Mobility Issues and Disabilities can strike any family and an age group. Indiana Mobility Association provides resources and funding for a variety of products and services that are appropriate for all types of disabilities and age groups. If you have any questions about these services, please email us or call. Many times, insurance cannot absorb the entire cost of the products needed for an individual ie.wheelchair. This is where we come in.
Wheelchairs and other Mobility Products
Wheelchairs and powerchairs are key products when it comes to our clients. Many times the cost for these are so outrageous, that they get hand-me-down chairs that are not properly equipped for their needs. We have many local resources that have the ideal products for all ages and special needs. We also try to provide walkers, lift chairs, transfer products and other products that help with in home mobility for people with complete loss of mobility, or those that have minor mobility issues, but need assistance with everyday movement.
Juvenile Products
Many of our clients recently have been juveniles with various forms of disabilities including Muscular Dystrophy, Spina Bifida, Muscular Sclerosis, etc. All of these are diseases that not only take a great deal of strength on the part of the families involved, but also a great deal of support from local organizations. We have been very fortunate to be able to assist families with referrals and products such as specialized walkers for these children and their families. As a cure is not available, we know that these families will continue to need support from many resources. Indiana Mobility Association is there for these families and work hand-in-hand with local organizations to see that these families are handled with care.
ADA Products
The Americans With Disabilites Act (ADA) has certain guidelines that protect individuals in many areas, including employment, and most importantly handicap accesibility products for their home. We make sure that all products that are installed in a home or business follow these guidelines and are installed with the utmost care for our client's safety and long-term use. Many times though, people feel that one grab bar or handrail is the solution for their safety. We offer a free ADA assessment for families and individuals that pinpoints all areas in the home that raise concern for their safety. Most of the time the main area of concern for our clients is the bathroom, as this is an area where falls occur most. There are many different ways to improve bathrooms, be it a shower or bath or roll-in style bathroom, all of which are less time consuming than one might think.
Automobile Mobility Referrals
This is probably the most costly of areas that we run in to as well as the largest need. Our clients get there home concerns taken care of, but then lack the funds or resources for their mobility or means of transportation and have to rely on transportation services to get them around. We have local partners that make this transition into full mobility a seemless endeavor and help with families that cannot afford this option. Again, our mission, including our partner's, is to help you gain your independence.
